Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Monday expelled its Buet unit leader Amit Saha for his involvement in the murder of second-year student Abrar Fahad.

He was not present at the spot during the October 7 incident, the student body noted. “But was involved with it (albeit indirectly) through the social media.”

“Amit Saha is hereby expelled permanently from Chhatra League as charges against him were proven during further investigation,” acting BCL President Al Nahean Khan Joy and acting General Secretary Lekhok Bhattacharjee said in the press release, the UNB reported.

Amit, deputy law secretary of Chhatra League’s Buet unit and a civil engineering student, was arrested on October 10 in connection with Abrar’s killing.

Abrar, a second-year student of electrical and electronic engineering, was beaten to death reportedly by Chhatra League leaders of the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall unit on October 7.
