Mirpur, Dhaka: An Islami Chhatra Shibir activist was killed in a reported crossfire with police in the city’s Mirpur Town Protection Embankment area on Saturday night.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner Masudur Rahman said Mirpur police arrested Emadullah and 11 others from different places on Saturday. They took Emdadul to the spot to catch his associates at about 11:45pm.

However, Emadul’s associates started shooting at the police team. Several gunshot were traded between the law enforcers and attackers.

Emadul was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot while his aides managed to flee, the commissioner said. 

Later, Rupnagar police recovered the body on early Sunday.
