Munshiganj: At least 20 people were killed in a clash between the followers of two Union Council election contestants in Nandan Kona Chowrasta area of Kola union council in Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj on Sunday evening, reports UNB.

The Sirajdikhan police officer-in-charge Mohammad Eardous Hasan said the clash ensued between the followers of Awami-League backed candidate Liakat Ali and rival contestant of AL Nasir Chowdhury during a meeting of local AL in the area in the evening.

At one stage, the supporters of both the groups attacked each other which left 20 injured.

On information police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Additional police forces have been deployed in the area to avoid untoward situation, the OC added.
