Muhith to brief media Tuesday on BB money heist
Dhaka: Finance Minister AMA Muhith will brief media tomorrow (Tuesday) on current issues, BSS reported on Monday quoting a press release.
Signed by senior information officer of the finance ministry M Shahedur Rahman, the release said the press conference, which will be held at 11:00am at the finance ministry, was called against the backdrop of the recent theft of $101 million by hackers from Bangladesh Bank (BB) account at New York Federal Reserve Bank.
BB also called an emergency board meeting to have discussion this issue.
The meeting will be held at 4:00pm at the central bank’s headquarters in the capital city, BB spokesperson AFM Asaduzzaman told BSS.
Meanwhile, the finance ministry appointed two new board of directors for a three-year term. They are: Jamal Uddin Ahmed FCA and Roshidan Islam Rahman. Rahman is a research director at the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS).
