New anti-corruption chief finds irregularities on first day in office
Dhaka: Newly appointed Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC) chairman Iqbal Mahmood asked the ACC secretary to serve show-cause notices to seven officials for not performing their duty properly.
On the second day of his new assignment, Mahmood made surprise visits to different desks at the Commission office on Tuesday and wanted to know about their activities and also progress of their works.
During the internal office visit, he voiced concern as he found several officials absent at their desks, while many others’ performance unsatisfactory, ACC Secretary Abu M Mustafa Kamal told UNB.
He then directed the ACC Secretary to serve show-cause notices on them with Kamal saying that notices will be served on them on Wednesday.
Mahmood also asked the ACC secretary to take steps to open a day care centre for the kids of its female staff.
On the first day of his office, he warned the ACC officials that no negligence will be tolerated, and transparency and accountability must be ensured in their works.
