Bhola: Members of Awami League-backed chairman candidate for Lalmohan union, under the district’s Lalmohan upazila, Shahjahan, have been accused of vandalising the residence and campaigning office of independent and party rebel candidate Mizanur Rahman Kamrul, reports UNB.

Multiple incidents of ransacking took place at Miar Hat Bazar area of Lalmohan union, starting from Tuesday evening, when Shahjahan’s followers first trashed Kamrul’s campaign office, injuring 25 of his followers in the process.

After some time, they vandalized around 10 of  Kamrul’s business enterprises and forcefully locked them up.

During this time they spotted photographers from Jugantor and a cameraman from RTV taking pictures, after which they assaulted them and injured them, snatching their cameras in the process.

Cameraman of RTV, Yusuf, was admitted to Lalmohan Hospital, during which his memory card was also snatched by the same miscreants.

He was later transferred to Bhola Sadar Hopsital, as his condition worsened.

The incident has sparked widespread protests in the local journalist fraternity, with members of Bhola Press Club and Bhola Reporters’ Unity demanding arrest of those responsible.
