3 killed as train hits truck

Gazipur: Three people, including a college student, were killed and six others injured as a train crashed into a truck at a level crossing at Maijpara in Sreepur upazila on Thursday morning.

The deceased are Shikhar,21, an honours year 3 student of Bhawal Badre Alam Government College and a resident of Niguari village under Pagla thana of Mymensingh district, Mostafa,55, an ice cream trader and a resident of Gafargaon upazila of the district, and Jahangir Alam,30, a resident of Golaghat area of Sreepur upazila of Gazipur district.

Witnesses said the accident took place when a Dhaka-bound commuter train from Jamalpur hit the truck while it was parked beside the level crossing around 10:45am, leaving train passengers Shikhar, Mostafa and Jahangir dead on the spot and six others injured.

The injured were admitted to Sreepur Health Complex.
