Two killed in Rangpur road crash

Rangpur: Two passengers of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were killed being hit by truck in Rangpur Sadar on Sunday.

The accident took place when a Rangpur-bound speedy truck from Mithapukur collided with an auto-rickshaw from the opposite directions at Domdoma area on the Rangpur-Dhaka Highway at about 9:00am, killing two persons on the spot and injuring another three.

The deceased are Rabin Chandra, son of Hemanta Chandra at Birampur of Dinajpur and Abdul Matin, son of Shahjada Miah at Dormodhash Sadarpara in Ramgpur Sadar.

Kotwali Police sub-inspector Saiful Islam said police forces rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies and sent the injured to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital.

The truck driver, however, managed to escape the scene soon after the accident, he added.

A case has been lodged in this connection with Kotwali Police.
