AL men captured all polling stations: Rizvi
Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Tuesday alleged that ruling party activists are casting fake votes and stuffing ballots by capturing all most all the polling stations across the country in the first phase Union Council election.
BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said: ‘We’re receiving information that most voting centres of 717 Union Parishads have been captured. We’re also have information about vote rigging, ballot box snatching, stuffing, driving out of our agents, and their beating, intimidation of voters and other massive irregularities.’
Speaking at a press briefing at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, he also said the first phase UP polls have once again proved that no fair election is possible under the current regime.
‘The Chief Election Commissioner said they’re not getting desired cooperation from the administration. If that is the case, this is the question of people why don’t you (EC) resign,’ Rizvi said pointing out at the Chief Election Commissioner.
Voting in the first phase election to 717 Union Parishads began at 8:00am and it will continue till 4:00pm without any break.
