Bandarban/Comilla: Three people were killed and four others injured in separate road accidents in Bandarban and Comilla on Sunday.

In Bandarban, two people were killed and three others injured as a CNG-run auto-rickshaw plunged into a ditch at Kashaipara on the Bandarban-Chittagang Highway in Sadar this morning.

The deceased were Khowaiking Marma, 55, and Abdul Amin, 49, both residents of the Bandarban Sadar.

Witnesses said the auto-rickshaw fell into a roadside ditch when its driver lost control at about 10:30 am, leaving Khowaiking Marma dead on the spot and four others injured.

The injured were admitted to Bandarban Medical College Hospital where Abdul Amin succumbed to his injuries.

Of the injured, Babul Das was shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

In Comila, a passenger of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw was killed and another one inured as a covered-van rammed the auto-rickshaw at Kamlapur on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Sadar (South) at about 10:30 am.

Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Moinamati Highway Police sub-inspector Amar Chandra Das said a Dhaka-bound speeding covered-van hit the CNG-run auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction, leaving an auto-rickshaw passenger dead on the spot and another injured.

The injured was admitted to Comilla Medical College Hospital.
