BSTI fines 9 shops in Rajshahi

Rajshahi: The regional office of Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institutions (BSTI) has expedited drives against selling of substandard and adulterated foods and fined owners of nine shops Taka 53,300 in the district yesterday, BSTI sources said on Monday.
According to the officials concerned, the BSTI in cooperation with the district administration conducted mobile court in different areas, reports BSS.
The court led by Executive Magistrate Shukla Sarker lodged separate cases against nine shop owners on charges of possessing and selling of substandard and unhygienic food items besides violation of BSTI rules and regulations.
The court realised Taka 53,300 from the shop owners as fine and disposed of the cases on the spot.
