Mymensingh: Thirty to forty unnamed people have been sued over the killing of schoolboy Rafiqul Islam in a pre UC-polls violence in Achintapur union of Gouripur upazila in Mymensingh, reports UNB.

Victim’s mother Ramela Khatun filed the case with Gouripur Police Station on Tuesday morning accusing 30-40 unidentified people, said Akhterruzzaman Murshed, officer-in-charge of the police station.

Earlier, Rafiqul Islam, 10, a class-IV student of Shahganj Government Primary School and son of Osman Gani of Nazirpur village in the upazila, was hacked to death in a pre union council polls violence on Monday night.

Aktaruzzaman added Rafiqul went to Shahganj Bazar to join the electioneering for Awami League rebel chairman candidate Dulal Fakir.

On way back home, supporters of a rival candidate chopped him at Ghaghla at about 8:00pm.

Locals rushed him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead at about 9:00pm.
