A 14-member delegation including the US Department of State Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Sarah Sewall, the US Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for International Affairs Alan Bersin and the US Ambassador in Dhaka Marcia S Bernicat joined the meeting.

‘The counter terrorism and cyber crime units are new units, so we need necessary cooperation for sharing ideas to strengthen its activities for curbing crimes,’ the minister told the delegation.

The government has been working sincerely against terrorism and crimes by upholding human rights and also the community police is working at the rural level, he added.

Khan informed the US team about the government’s programme against extremism and terrorism in Bangladesh and said the common people are being mobilized against the terrorists and their criminal activities.

‘We have discussed with the leaders from all religions and briefed them against terrorism and extremism. We have also brought them under a platform to curb terrorism,’ he said.

He told the US team that the Bangladeshis never like terrorists and extremists. The number of terrorist activities reduced sharply due to the government’s sincere efforts, he said adding, there is no existence of international terrorist group in Bangladesh.
