Lakshmipur: Two sisters were allegedly picked up from their house and gang-raped at Torabganj union of Kamalnagar upazila in Lakshmipur on Tuesday (29 March).

Two cases were filed over the incident with Kamalnagar police station on Friday accusing five people.

The elder sister said one of the accused used to like her. On Tuesday night, the man went to the house of the victims and called her to come out. When she came out along with her sister, 4-5 people picked them up to an abandoned house and raped them.

The younger sister said one of the accused raped her threatening to kill her.

The mother of the two sisters said after rescuing the two girls she informed the matter to the local union council (UC) member. She filed complaint with police as the UC member did not take any action.

The elder brother of the victims and local people said the accused are relatives of the UC member. So, he did not take any steps.

However, the UC member denied such allegations.

Kamalnagar police officer-in-charge Kabir Ahammad said the victims have been sent to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital for medical test.

A doctor of the hospital said evidence of rape has been found in primary test. It needs some more tests for confirmation.
