Charges pressed against Barrister Shakila, 32 others

Chittagong: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Sunday pressed charges against 33 people, including Barrister Shakila Farzana, in a case filed in connection with financing a militant outfit, reports UNB.
Assistant director of RAB-7 ASP Ruhul Amin, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the chargesheet before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Munshi Mashiar Rahman.
Lawyer Hasanuzzaman Liton and advocate Mahfuz Chowdhury Bapon were among the chargesheeted accused.
Earlier on 20 March, RAB submitted a chargesheet against 28 people, including Barrister Shakila Farzana, in another case filed in connection with recovery of arms from Banshkhali upazila.
On 19 February 2015, RAB members in a drive arrested 12 people from a Qawmi madrasa at Hathazari.
Later on 21 February 2015, a team of RAB-7 unearthed a secret training camp of militant outfit Shaheed Hamza Brigade and arrested five suspected militants from Lotmoni area in Banshkhali upazila. The RAB members also recovered huge arms from the camp.
Two cases-one under the Arms Act and another under the Anti-Terrorism Act were filed in this connection.
On 18 August 2015, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three lawyers, including Supreme Court (SC) lawyers Shakila, Hasanuzzaman Liton and advocate Mahfuz Chowdhury Bapon, on charge of financing militant outfit Sahed Hamza Brigade (SHB) from Dhanmondi area of Dhaka.
