Tonu ‘teaser’ among several quizzed by CID
Comilla: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Sunday interrogated several people, including a young man who used to tease Sohagi Jahan Tonu, over the killing of the college girl.
Meanwhile, the viscera report of the first autopsy conducted on the body of Tonu reached Comilla from Chittagong on Sunday.
A CID team grilled the son of an honorary lietenant of Bangladesh Army at Mynamati Cantonment at its Comilla office.
They also quizzed those who took Tonu to the hospital, the physician who declared Tonu dead upon arrival and the hospital ayah who was on duty at that time.
After the interrogation, the ‘teaser’ was taken to the spot inside the cantonment where Tonu’s body was found.
Later, he was dropped at his residence, a CID source said.
Earlier, Rapid Action Battalion and police also interrogated him over the gruesome murder.
Quoting Tonu’s cousin, the CID members said Peyar used to tease Tonu over mobile phone.
KP Saha, head of the Forensic Department of Comilla Medical College Hospital, said they received the viscera report of the first postmortem. ‘We’ll make the final autopsy report public once the results of few more tests are available,’ he said.
Contacted, Jalal Uddin Ahmed, senior assistant superintendent of CID, Comilla, said the investigation is on and it is not possible right now to say anything for the sake of investigation.
Meanwhile, the whereabouts of Mizanur Rahman Sohagh, 21, a friend of Tonu’s brother Anwar Hossain, could not be known yet as he was reportedly picked up by plainclothes police at about 1:30am on 27 March, said his sister Khaleda Akter.
Earlier on Saturday, the CID members interrogated the family members of slain college student Sohagi Jahan Tonu at its office in Comilla.
Sohagi Jahan Tonu, 19, a second year history student of Comilla Victoria College, and a member of Victoria College Theatre, went missing on 20 March, hours after she had gone out of her house at Comilla Mainamati Cantonment for private tuition.
Later, Tonu’s father Yaar Hossain found his daughter lying senseless with severe injuries in her body in a bush adjacent to their house.
She was then whisked off to Combined Military Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
Tonu murder case was shifted to the CID on Tuesday to expedite its probe on 29 March.
Later, a six-member probe committee, headed by Dhaka senior police super Abdul Kahhar Akand, was formed on 30 March to assist the investigation.
