BNP leader shot dead in Khulna

Khulna: A local BNP leader was shot to death by some miscreants in Arongghata area of Khulna city on Friday night, reports UNB.
Khulna Metropolitan Police additional deputy commissioner Sheikh Maniruzzaman Mithu said a group of armed miscreants intercepted SM Alamgir Hossain, 50, industries affairs secretary of no.3 ward unit of BNP, son of Akbar Hossain in the area, and opened fire on him at about 10:30pm, leaving him critically injured.
Later he was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead at about 11:00pm.
Police could not arrest anyone as the miscreants fled the scene after firing shots.
However, the reason behind the killing could not be known immediately.
