3 hurt as AL’s fronts clash in Sylhet

Sylhet: Three people were injured in a clash between the activists of the ruling Awami League’s student and volunteer fronts—Bangladesh Chhatra League and Swechchhasebak League—in Kuarpar area of Sylhet on Saturday night.
The Kotwali police officer-in-charge Sohel Ahmed said activists of the district unit Swechchhasebak League president Afsar Aziz and Chhatra League leader Samad locked in an altercation in the afternoon.
Later, the activists of Afsar Aziz chased off the supporters of Samad at about 10:00pm which triggered a clash in the area.
The clash left three people, including a passer-by, injured.
Police went to the spot and opened 13 bullets in the air to bring the situation under control.
Police also recovered four machetes from the spot.
