Lakshmipur: Local people caught two alleged kidnappers while they were trying to pick up a woman from a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Chowdhury Bazar in Kamalnagar upazila of Lakshmipur on Saturday night.

The Kamalnagar police officer-in-charge Kabir Ahmad said local people caught Rubel Hossain, resident of Panditnagar village and Jamal Uddin, resident of Charmartin village of the upazila, as he tried to abduct a housewife at about 10:30pm.

The mob handed over the duo to the police after beating them up.

With injuries, they were admitted to Kamalnagar Upazila Health Complex under police custody.

The victim’s uncle filed a case against them under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act on Sunday morning.
