Dhaka: Popular Social networking site Facebook has verified the official page of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division.

The page, <https://www.facebook.com/ictdivisionbd/>, was seen having a blue tick mark beside the site meaning that the page has been verified as genuinely run by the ICT Division itself.

The ICT Division is the first among the 61 ministries and divisions of the government of Bangladesh to have its page verified by Facebook authorities, according to a UNB report.

More than 34,721 people liked the official Facebook page of the ICT Division.

‘The ICT Division is using all the popular social media platforms to communicate and share with the citizens, especially with the youngsters about the progress of implementation of Digital Bangladesh vision as dedicated by our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the younger generation,’ said State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak.

He said it is about 20 million people of the younger generation who used Facebook and a section of them regularly visited the official page of ICT Division that prompted to get verification from the Facebook authorities.
