Bagerhat: A court in Bagerhat on Tuesday convicted a man and sentenced him to death for killing his wife in Rampal upazila of Bagerhat in 2014, reports UNB.

The convict is Habi Sarder, a resident of Gona Balay village of the upazila.

According to the prosecution, Hasina Begum, 32, daughter of Torab Ali Mollah, a resident of Buridanga village of Mongla upazila, was tortured to death by her husband Habi on 21 October 2014 over family feud.

Victim’s brother Shamsul Mollah filed a case with Rampal police station the following day.

Thakur Das Mondol, sub-inspector of the police station, submitted a chargesheet against Habi on 31 December 2014.

After examining all the records and witnesses, session’s judge Mizanur Rahman Khan handed down the verdict.
