Noakhali: A young man was shot to death by miscreants near Bashurhat Bazar area of Companyganj upazila on Sunday night.

The deceased is  Mohammad Saker, a resident of Sirajpur Chhayabhiti area of the upazila.

The Companyganj police officer-in-charge Sajedul Islam Sajid said locals rescued Saker with bullet injuries near a road in the area at about 11:00am.

Later he was taken to the upazila health complex.

As his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to Noakhali General Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

His family members said miscreants picked him up from the Bashurhat Bazar at night.

They tortured him and shot him in the knees.
