Dhaka: Bangladesh has expressed deep shock at the tragic loss of lives due to the recent devastating earthquake in the central coast of Ecuador.

‘I am deeply saddened to learn about the tragic loss of lives and injury to a few hundred people,’ said Foreign Minister AH Mahmood in a condolence to his counterpart in Ecuador Charles Flanagan.

He wished that the affected families will be able to return to normal living within the shortest possible time.

‘Our sympathies and prayers are with all those affected in this devastation. We stand by your government and the friendly people of Ecuador at this difficult time,’ he wrote in the message.
