Rule on cancelling 2nd chance in DU entrance test
Dhaka: The High Court on Monday issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why the decision not to allow students to sit for the Dhaka University entrance test for the second time would not be declared illegal.
An HC joint bench comprising Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Ejarul Haque Akondo passed the order upon hearing on a writ petition.
The court asked the DU Vice Chancellor and its Examinations Controller and six others concerned to respond to the rule within two weeks.
On October,14, 2014, the Dhaka University authorities decided to allow only freshly passed HSC students to appear at its entrance tests in a single year from the 2015-16 academic session, aiming to create an equal opportunity for all the aspirants.
A total of 16 guardians, including Minara Begum, filed a writ petition with the High Court earlier in the day challenging the legality of the decision.
DU admission aspirants held several protest programmes soon after the announcement of the decision.
