Patuakhali: Noting that there is no security of public life these days, Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad on Wednesday said it is only his party that can ensure peace in the country.

‘People want to live in a peaceful atmosphere. However, there’s no security of public life in the country. It’s only Jatiya Party that can ensure this environment,’ he said while addressing the Patuakhali JaPa council at the local Shilpakala Academy.

Ershad, a former military ruler, alleged that the government has failed to live up to its promise made to JaPa over the Union Parishad polls, and asked his party leaders and activists to organise it well so that it can take part strongly in the next election.

At the council, Ershad announced Abdur Razzak Khan as the JaPa district unit president while Khairul Alam Mamun as general secretary.
