Sylhet: Robbers looted valuables worth Tk30 lakh from a house at Akhalia Surma Residential area in Sylhet early on Thursday.

Quoting the residents, police said a gang of robbers, around eight, stormed the house of Dr. Shafiul Azam, a physician, and kept the house inmates hostage at gunpoint by tying them up inside a room at about 3:00am.

Later the robbers looted valuables worth Tk 30 lakh including 25 tolas of gold jewelleries, Tk5 lakh cash, eight mobile phone sets and two laptops from the house and decamped with the booty.

The Kotwali Police officer-in-charge Sohel Ahmed said police are trying to arrest the robbers.
