ECNEC okays cross-border road network project
Dhaka: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday approved the Cross-Border Road Network Improvement Project (Bangladesh) involving an estimated cost of Tk 2,472.93 crore in a bid to ensure uninterrupted and safe regional and sub regional road communication system.
The approval came at the 28th ECNEC meeting of the current fiscal year held at the NEC conference room in the city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area with ECNEC chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, reported UNB.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said a total of nine projects were approved at the meeting with an estimated cost of Tk 6,099.68 crore.
‘Of the total project cost, Tk 2,543.50 crore will come from the government exchequer while Tk 155.22 crore from own funds of organisations concerned and Tk 3,400.96 crore as project assistance,’ he said.
