Magura: A woman was slaughtered allegedly by her son over a trifling matter at Sonakur village in Shalikha upazila of Magura on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased is Rizia Begum, aged around 70 years, wife of Moksed Ali Biswas, a resident of the village.

Quoting local people, the Shalikha police officer-in-charge Abu Zihad said Rizia locked in an altercation with her son Banu Biswas, 36, over sharing paddy at about 3:00pm.

At one stage, Banu took his mother inside a room and slaughtered the elderly women, leaving her dead on the spot.

Later, local people caught Banu and handed him over to police.

A case was filed in this connection, the OC added.
