PM inaugurates several dev projects in Gopalganj

Gopalganj: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stones of a number of development projects at her home district Gopalganj on Saturday afternoon.

Earlier, the Prime Minister reached Tungipara on a daylong visit to open and inaugurates the development projects.

In the morning, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his mazar.

After placing the wreaths, the Premier stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of the Father of the Nation.

Sheikh Hasina later offered fateha and joined a munajat. She also recited from the holy Quran inside the mazar.

In the Munajat, prayers were offered seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu as well as other martyrs of the 15 August carnage.

Besides, prayers were offered seeking peace, progress and prosperity of the country as well as good health and long life of the Premier.

Awami League Presidium Member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, lawmaker, Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu, PM’s Security Advisor Major General (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddiq, Muhammad Faruk Khan, lawmaker, Sheikh Helaluddin, lawmaker, AL central leader SM Kamal Hossain, PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim and Special Assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil were present, among others.

From Tungipara, Sheikh Hasina will go to Ghonapara under Kashiani upazila by road to inaugurate the newly-constructed Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Eye Hospital and Training Institute, Chapail Bridge over Madhumati River, Tungipara Head Post Office, Gopalganj District Shishu Academy Complex and Jatiya Mohila Sangstha Bhaban.

The Premier laid the foundation stones of Sheikh Lutfar Rahman Dental College, Gopalganj Textile Engineering College, Gopalganj 10 Kilowatt FM Radio Station, Gopalganj-Kashiani-Gobra Rail Line Project and Tungipara and Muksudpur Upazila Muktijoddha Complexes.

From Ghonapara, Sheikh Hasina will go to Kotalipara by road to open Kotalipara Upazila Muktijoddha Complex at a ceremony at Kotalipara Sheikh Lutfar Rahman Ideal Government College Ground.

She will also distribute laptops and multimedia projectors to 100 primary and 14 secondary schools under Kotalipara Upazila.

Before departing for the capital in the afternoon, the Prime Minister will address a Sudhi Samabesh (civic rally) on Kotalipara Sheikh Lutfar Rahman Ideal Government College Ground.
