Jaipurhat: An elderly man was killed and five people injured in a clash over a trifling matter at Gupinathpur village of Punat union parishad in Kalai upazila on Saturday, reports UNB.

The deceased is Solaiman Ali, 71, a resident of the village.

Sirajul Islam, office-in-charge of Kalai Police Station, said Solaiman locked into an altercation with his neighbor Mahfuzur Rahman while he was cleaning the kacha drain adjacent to his house at noon.

At one stage, supporters of both the men, equipped with homemade weapons, attacked each other, which left six including Solaiman injured.

Later, the injured were admitted to the upazila health complex.

As Solainman’s condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogra where he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, police arrested two people in this connection.
