Sylhet: Police in a drive arrested a local leader of Jamaat-e- Islami from Natun Bazar area of Chhatak upazila on Wednesday.

The arrestee is Faizur Rahman, a resident of Jagannathpur village and acting chairman of Chhoila-Afzalabad union of the upazila.

Chhatok police officer-in-charge Harun-or-Rashid said police conducted a drive in the area in the afternoon and arrested Faizur.

He was arrested in a case filed over assaulting police, added OC.
