Khaleda positive about city polls: Prof Emajuddin

Dhaka: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is positive about participating in the upcoming elections to Dhaka and Chittagong city corporations, former Dhaka University vice chancellor Prof Emajuddin Ahmed said on Friday.
'BNP will decide in its party forum and with alliance partners about the participation in the elections. However, it seemed to us that Khaleda Zia is not negative about the city corporation elections,' he said while talking to reporters after a meeting with the BNP chairperson at her Gulshan office.
A delegation of professionals, led by Emajuddin Ahmed, entered the Khaleda’s office around 7:25pm on Friday.
The other members include Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, senior journalist Mahfuz Ullah, Prof AFM Yusuf Haider, Tahmina Akhter Popy, Prof Mamun Hossain and DUJ president Abdul Hye Shikder.
Asked whether there will be any change in the strategy of BNP’s movement if the party takes part in the city polls, Prof Emajuddin said there might be a shift in this regard.
