Khaleda Zia summoned over Dandy Dying case

A Dhaka court on Sunday summoned the Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson, Khaleda Zia, and three of her family members in Dandy Dyeing loan default case.
Acting Judge Roksana Begum Happy of Artha Rin Adalat passed the order responding to a petition filed by the state-owned Sonali Bank and fixed 12 April for next hearing in the case.
The three family members are Arafat Rahman Koko's widow Sharmila Rahman Sithi and his two daughters Zafia Rahman and Zahia Rahman.
On 16 March, a petition was filed including the four summoned as defendants in the case on behalf of Koko as he died in Malaysia on 24 January this year.
Arafat Rahman Koko was the director of Dandy Dying.
Nazrul Islam, senior executive of Sonali Bank’s principal office, filed a case against 10 Dandy Dyeing officials on 2 October 2012 for defaulting on a loan amounting to Tk 45.59 crore.
The other defendants in the case are Khaleda Zia’s elder son Tarique Rahman, Nasrin Ahmed, wife of the late Shamim Eskandar, her son Shams Eskandar, daughter Sumaiya Eskandar, Tarique Rahman’s friend Giasuddin Al Mamun, his wife Shahina Begum and Kazi Galib Ahmed.
