BSF kills Bangladeshi at border
Dinajpur: A Bangladeshi farmer was gunned down and another wounded with bullets by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along the Ochintopur border of Birampur upazila on Monday morning.
The deceased was Mohammad Nazrul Islam, son of Abdul Goni, resident of Chapla village of the upazila.
Witnesses said BSF members opened fire at them while they were sowing paddy in a field of the area at about 10:00am, leaving Nazrul dead on the spot and another wounded with bullets.
BSF also picked up another Bangladeshi from the area.
Lt Col Jahidur Rashid, commanding officer of Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) Battalion 30, confirmed the incident and said that a letter has been sent to the BSF asking for a flag meeting.
