The cabinet on Monday approved in principal drafts of two acts for establishing two medical universities in Chittagong and Rajshahi.

Following the cabinet meeting at the Secretariat in Dhaka, cabinet secretary Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told media that the meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, approved in principal the drafts and referred them to the ministry concerned with recommendations to make changes to some clauses.

Earlier Health and Family Welfare ministry came up with the drafts of ‘Chittagong Medical University Act 2015’ and ‘Rajshahi Medical University Act 2015’ in the meeting.

At present Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University is the single medical university in the country.
