ISIS-captive Helal talks to family
Jamalpur: Helal Uddin, one of the two Bangladeshis kidnapped by members of Islamic group ISIS in Libya on 6 March, talked to his family members over phone on Tuesday.
Helena, elder daughter of Helal Uddin, said they got a phone call from an unidentified international at about around 10:30 am and heard her father’s voice.
Helal first talked to his wife, Aleya Begum, and then to her, Helena said.
During the four-minute conversation, Helal told his family members who reside in Dakkhin Gazaria village of Madarganj upazila that he along with two other people, including the other Bangladeshi hailing from Noakhali, has been kept confined to a house. He, however, could
not say where the house is located.
Helal said the militants did not inflict any torture upon them yet, Helena said, adding that her father sought doa from the country’s people.
Helena said they are now feeling so happy after getting the phone call from the only earning member of their family, 18 days after the incident.
Two Bangladeshi nationals, Helal Uddin and Mohammad Anwar Hossain, along with seven foreign ones were taken hostage by members of the Islamic group ISIS from Al-Ghani oil field south of the city Sirte of Libya on 6 March.
On 10 March, the Foreign Ministry confirmed the incident through the Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli. After this attack on 6 March, 21 Bangladeshis employed in another neighbouring oil field were taken to safe places.
