Obama congratulates Bangladeshis
US President Barack Obama congratulates the people of Bangladesh on the country’s Independence and National Day.
Barack Obama at a statement on Thursday (US time) greeted all Bangladeshis a happy and festive Independence Day.
The US Embassy in Dhaka published the statement on its Facebook verified page.
President Obama said, ‘I congratulate the people of Bangladesh as you celebrate Bangladesh's Independence Day on 26 March. Since achieving independence in 1971, the Bangladeshi people have made extraordinary gains in development – from food security to maternal health to poverty eradication. Thanks to strong contributions from Bangladesh's civil society and entrepreneurial people, Bangladesh represents a global model for human development.’
‘The United States remains a steadfast partner in supporting the objective of a prosperous, secular, inclusive, and democratic Bangladesh,’ Barack Obama added.
