Amu leaves for UK
Dhaka: A five-member delegation headed by Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu left Dhaka on Saturday for the United Kingdom (UK) to gather experience about quality infrastructure and quality policy of the developed countries, reports BSS.
According to an official release, the delegation will visit different quality institutes, accreditation organizations and research centres in the UK, United States of America and Canada till 11 April.
Other members of the delegation include Planning Commission Member SM Golam Faruq, director general of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institute (BSTI) Iqramul Haq, chief of Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) Sheikh Nazrul Islam, deputy chief of the Ministry of Industries Muhammad Anwarul Alam and FM Mahmud Kiron, assistant personal secretary to industries minister.
The delegation will visit British Standards Institute (BSI) and United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) in London from 28 to 31 March.
The delegation will exchange opinion with the officials of the organizations during their visit, the release said.
The team will also visit other quality organizations and research centers including National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Washington in the USA from 1 to 7 April.
Besides, the high profile delegates also will visit Canadian Association for Laboratory Accreditation (CALA) in Ottawa from 8-11 April.
The delegates are expected to return home on 13 April.
