Microsoft to help Bangladesh fight cyber crimes
Dhaka: Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on Thursday signed a three-year agreement with Microsoft to check cyber crimes.
BTRC chairman Dr Shajahan Mahmood and managing director of Microsoft Bangladesh Sonia Bashir Kabir signed the deal on behalf of their respective sides.
‘In case of any cyber attack, Microsoft will alert us in advance,’ State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim said after the signing of the contract at her ministry.
She also said Microsoft will assist Bangladesh to fight bots and botnets whenever Bangladesh seeks help.
The junior minister said law enforcers will launch drives to stop forgery in the biometric SIM registration.
A meeting was held between representatives of mobile phone operators and Tarana at the ministry before the signing ceremony.
