AL activist hacked dead in Magura

Magura: An Awami League activist was hacked to death by his party rivals following a dispute over establishing supremacy at Chatkabari in Shalikha upazila of Magur on Friday night.
The deceased is Abdul Jalil Mollah, in his fifties, a resident of Natopara village.
The Shalikha Police Station Officer-in-charge Rabiul Islam said Jalil had been at loggerheads over establishing dominance in the area with his party rivals.
On Friday night, supporters of Jalil locked into an altercation with their rivals over a trifling matter.
At one stage, they hacked Jalil with sharp weapons at about 8:00pm, leaving him dead on the spot.
Later, police picked up a man from the spot in connection with the incident.
