A teenage girl was gang-raped allegedly by a group of young men at Nehalpur in Manirampur upazila of Jessore on Thursday night.

The victim filed a case against five people on Saturday night with Manirampur Police Station, said sub-inspector of the police station Lutfur Kabir, reports UNB.

The accused are Al-Amin, 22, a resident of Khanpur village, Ripon, 20, Masum, 21, Rezaul, 25, residents of Nehalpur village, and Shamim, 20, hailing from Balida village.

According to the case statement, the 16-year old girl, a resident of Fedaipur village in the upazila, used to work at Akij Jute Mill at Nawapara.

Barely a year back, she reportedly developed an affair with one of her colleagues, Al-Amin.

On Thursday night, Al-Amin went to a movie theatre to watch a movie with the girl.

After watching the movie, they went to Kalibari Bazar and had their dinner at a restaurant and started walking home.

When they reached Nehalpur, Ripon, Masum, Rezaul and Shamim intercepted the duo at about 11:00pm.

Later, they took the girl to a nearby mango orchard and raped her, and fled the scene.

After the miscreants departed, Al-Amin also raped the girl and fled the scene leaving behind the girl.
