RAB DG flouts foreign involvement in Gulshan, Kishoreganj attacks
Dhaka: Discarding any international political, military and operational support to recent fatal attacks in a Gulshan restaurant and Eid congregation in Kishoreganj, the director general of Rapid Action Battalion Benazir Ahmed has said, ‘Though the concept of militancy is a foreign one, the attackers are local, and RAB tries to find out their patrons.’
He has admitted that the people are horror-stuck at the deadly attacks and the law enforcers have taken every possible measure to contain militants and terrorists.
Addressing a press conference at the RAB headquarters in Dhaka on Monday, he said, ‘It is very important to find out the persons who are acting from behind the curtain. Without this, it [militant activity] cannot be stopped. We must investigate and find out who are financing and backing it.’
‘We are trying to trace the young persons ran away leaving their family behind,’ he added.
He also launched a mobile application, named Report to RAB, with an aim to catch drug traders and abductors.
