Officials to rescue Bangladeshis trapped in Yemen

Dhaka: Bangladesh have decided to send two officials from Oman to Dijbouti to rescue the Bangladeshis who are stuck in war-torn Yemen, state minister for foreign affairs M Shahriar Alam wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday night.
The officials who will travel to Aden, Yemen, will help verify the Bangladeshis, said the minister in his post.
He also said that the officials, if needed, will help Bangladeshi nationals to be on board in a ship.
The officials are expected to go there by Friday.
Earlier, Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque said Bangladesh has formally requested the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) to send back Bangladeshis got stuck in troubled Yemen.
Bangladesh requested India to help repatriate Bangladesh nationals.
India agreed in principle to help Bangladesh depending on availability of space in ship as India is sending a ship to rescue Indians, he added.
The Foreign Secretary also informed that Bangladesh has sought support from Saudi Arabia to rescue Bangladesh nationals.
Some 1500-3000 Bangladesh nationals are living in Yemen and all of them are not interested to come back, said the Foreign Secretary.
