3 cops among 4 booked for ‘killing’ freedom fighter
A case was filed against four people, including three policemen, over their alleged connection with the killing of retired army man and freedom fighter Abdul Bari.
Jamalpur Railway Police Station Sub-inspector Kawsar Ahmed said Mizanur Rahman Mukul, elder son of the slain freedom fighter, filed the case with the police station on Tuesday night.
The accused are Jamalpur Railway Police Station Officer-in-charge Gaura Chandra Majumdar, constable Tapan Barua, Sub-inspector Sohrab Hossain and Jamalpur Railway Station ticket collector Anisur Rahman.
On Monday, Abdul Bari, 65, a retired army man and a resident of Hatchandra village in Jamalpur Sadar upazila, was killed as he was beaten and hit by railway policemen at the railway station.
Jamalpur Railway Stationmaster Mohammad Tarek and OC Gaura Chandra were withdrawn from their duties after the incident.
Later, Jamalpur Freedom Fighters’ Forum announced to observe a two-day protest programme demanding punishment of the killers.
