Rajshahi AL leader receives death threat in IS name

A local Awami League leader was threatened with life in the name of militant outfit Islamic State.
The threat was given to district Awami League general secretary Asaduzzaman Asad through a letter which reached Rajshahi Press Club on Wednesday evening. The sender of the letter is one Hekmat Ali of Atrai upazila in Naogaon district, reports UNB.
The letter titled ‘Our next killing mission in Rajshahi’ reads: ‘Asad made audacious remarks about them and challenged Islamic scholars even after he was warned against those which is a threat to Islam in Bangladesh.’
The letter also said he wanted to prove Sheikh Hasina as a sympathiser of Islam although no one - from Islamic scholars, alem-ulema to general people loving Islamic ideology - is being spared by the ‘repressive’ government. ‘And Asaduzzaman is working to implement the anti-Islamic activities of this government. He is our next killing mission target,’ the letter reads further.
