Dhaka: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Thursday upheld bail to Humayun Sultan Sadab, granted by High Court on 2 March, in the murder case of his wife Dr Shamarukh Mahajabin Sumi.
A three-member panel of Appellate Division, led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, passed the order, upholding the bail for Sadab, son of former Awami League lawmaker Khan Tipu Sultan.
Lawyer M Amir-Ul-Islam moved for Sadab at the court, while assistant attorney general Swadhan Kumar Banik took part in the hearing for the state.
Dr Shamarukh was found dead in her in-law's Dhanmondi house on 13 November, last year. Her father Engineer Nurul Islam lodged a murder case on the same day, accusing Sadab, his father Sultan and mother Dr Jesmin.
