Court denies bail to 5 Sholakia attack suspects

Kishoreganj: Five persons, arrested in connection with deadly attacks in Sholakia Eid Congregation, were denied bail on Wednesday.
Kishoreganj Chief Judicial Magistrate Abdus Salam turned down the plea of the arrestees as the police placed them before the court.
The accused are: Sohel Mia, 20, son of Samsu Uddin, Mamunur Rashid, 25, son of Mosharraf Hossain of Bajitpur upazila, Ariful Islam Habib, Ahsan Ullah, 24, son of Abdul Hye of Sadar upazila and Tara Mia, 52 of Bhairab.
The court rejected the bail petitions of the five accused when Advocate Quamrul Islam Babu and Advocate Iftekhar Hossain sought bail for their clients, said Mir Mosharraf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kishoreganj Model Police Station.
Earlier on 7 July, the Eid day, at least four people, including two policemen, were killed and 12 others injured in a bomb attack coupled with an exchange of gunfire after terrorists attacked at a temporary police check post near Sholakia Eid Congregation in Sadar upazila of Kishoreganj.
Police recovered two firearms, two local made weapons, two bullets and four magazines from the spot.
Abir Rahman, a student of North South University, who was involved in the terrorist attack, was killed in police firing on the spot.
Police arrested Shariful Islam and Zahidul Haque for their suspected involvement in the incident.
Samsuddin, officer-in-charge of Pakundia Police Station filed a case against the plotters.
Besides, police also arrested five more suspects over the incident.
