Cabin crew held with gold at Dhaka airport

Dhaka: Customs Intelligence officials detained a cabin crew with four gold bars, each weighing 10 tolas and 82 grams, and some ornaments at Shahjalal International Airport on early Saturday.
The detainee was Aslam Umar Belim, a cabin crew of Kuwait Airways.
Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate director general Moinul Khan said Belim came to Dhaka from Kuwait by a flight of ‘KU-283’ at about 5:30am.
The customs intelligence officials challenged Belim when he was passing through the green channel of the airport, said the DG.
After searching his body, the customs officials recovered four gold bars and some ornaments in his possession and detained him.
The market value of the gold is Tk 25 lakh.
A case was filed with the airport police station.
