BSF shot Bangladeshi man dead at Benapole
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on early Saturday allegedly gunned down a Bangladeshi in Putkhali bordering area of Benapole.
The deceased identified as Shahid Ali alias Foni, 30, a resident of the area, was a cattle trader.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) battalion 23 Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Arifur Rahman said a BSF team from Angrail camp opened fire at a group of cattle traders while they were entering Bangladesh from India with cattle in the area at about 4:30am, leaving Shahid dead on the spot, reports UNB.
Other associates of Shahid managed to flee, he added.
BSF members dumped the body into the Ichhamoti River.
Later, police recovered the body from the river on Saturday morning.
BGB has sent a letter to BSF, protesting the incident.
