BNP office reopens after 3 months
Dhaka: BNP Nayapaltan central office in the capital reopened on Saturday evening, after three months of closure.
A group of BNP leaders and activists, led by the party’s assistant office secretary Asadul Karim Shahin, entered the office at about 7:35pm breaking open a lock put by police at the main gate.
BNP took the initiative to open its central office after policemen deployed in front of it were withdrawn on Friday.
Police put the BNP headquarters under lock and key on 3 January prior to the first anniversary of the January-5 election.
The law enforcers also picked up BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at that time. The office had remained closed.
BNP recently demanded that its central office be reopened for ensuring a level-playing field ahead of the elections to two Dhaka city corporations.
